A browser takes the text in the BODY of your page and "flows" it into the computer screen, ignoring any formatting like ENTER or RETURN that you might have made in Notepad. If you resize the browser window you will see the text reflow to fill the new space on the screen.
You have to tell the browser when you want to start a new line or paragraph and you use the BREAK tag <BR>.
The <BR> tag is unsusal because there is no end tag for it. So if you type in Notepad:
This<BR>is<BR>how<BR>you<BR>make<BR>paragraphs<BR>
You should see:
This
is
how
you
make
paragraphs
