How can I keep myself safe online?
Online safety is so important so here are a few things you can remember that will help you stay safe:

Personal information should not be passed on without permission from your teacher or parents first. This includes your name, your address, your telephone number, etc.

Pictures of yourself should never be sent to anyone without getting your teacher or parents permission first.

When you are surfing it is best if an adult is with you, but if you are on your own and you find yourself somewhere online that makes you uncomfortable, just leave!

If someone that you do not know sends you either:

  • an attached file
  • a link in an e-mail
  • a link in an instant message
  • a link in a picture on an e-mail

DO NOT open it. It could be a virus or worm which could damage the school's or your computer.

You never know who you are talking to, even if you think you do. Never agree to meet an online friend without permission from a parent. If you get permisssion a parent should accompany you and you should arrange to meet in a public place.
