What is ‘the Audience’ and Why is it Important?

This is one of the most important considerations you will have to make when you plan the content (text and pictures) for your web page.  Your audience is the group of people or one person who you want your HTML page to talk to.  You have to think about what they want to see on your page and will they all be able to view your HTML page?

What is Notepad?

There are many different Software packages for creating web pages.  Notepad and Frontpage Express are the most commonly used when applying raw HTML code.   You will be using Notepad.  Notepad is a software tool for creating Web pages.

What is a Web browser?

It is Software that interprets the mark-up of files in HTML, formats them into Web pages (the most commonly used software are: “Netscape” and “Explorer”).  It allows us to see what the author wants us to see and not all the code.

What is HTML?

Hypertext Markup Language, or HTML, is a system of marking up, or tagging, text that describes the contents and appearance of pages on the World Wide Web.

The World Wide Web is a system for exploring information and webpages (sites) on the Internet. When you use a Web browser, the web pages you look at appear as a collection of text, pictures, sounds, and digital movies.
